“The lack of NCD financing is the last great challenge.”

This month marked the launch of the Financing Accelerator Network for Noncommunicable Diseases (FAN), a new initiative from Access Accelerated, the World Bank, and in close cooperation with Results for Development (R4D).

Beginning in Sub-Saharan Africa, FAN’s network of regional NCD Financing Accelerators will collaborate with local governments and stakeholders in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) to respond to the growing demand for stronger support in overcoming the financing challenges of noncommunicable diseases (NCDs). The accelerators will provide regional expertise, data, on-demand technical support, cross-country learning, and catalytic seed funding to advance NCD financing programs.

Hear more from Access Accelerated Director Herb Riband, as he shares the ambitious vision behind FAN’s demand-driven model, the importance of technical support and knowledge-sharing across countries, and the need to build a growing coalition of organizations to accelerate progress towards stronger NCD financing in LMICs.
