Access Today: Taking Action to Confront Diabetes
In November 2020, the World Health Organization reported that nearly one in five COVID-19 deaths in Africa were among people with diabetes. These staggering numbers reinforce the importance of our work responding to non-communicable diseases (NCDs) in low- and middle-income countries. From Sanofi’s diabetes and hypertension clinics in sub-Saharan Africa to Lilly’s Tshwane Insulin Project, Access Accelerated member companies are leading more than 20 programs that advance diabetes care and management and continue to make a difference during the COVID-19 pandemic.
