Ahead of this month’s UN High-Level Meeting on NCDs, Access Accelerated’s executive committee—Saba Husain, Ruth Musila, and Aura Vilhelmsen—has authored an op-ed for a special ReSolve Global Health report.

The article calls for health financing systems that work for everyone, with a focus on underserved groups, including women, and on people living with noncommunicable diseases in low- and middle-income countries.

Drawing on examples from Thailand, Rwanda, India, and Tanzania, the op-ed outlines how health financing functions—from progressive taxation and community-based pooling to strategic purchasing—can close access gaps, reduce financial hardship, and strengthen systems for all. It also highlights the value of collaborative platforms like the Financing Accelerator Network for NCDs (FAN), which fosters country-led innovation, through providing technical support, a platform for cross country knowledge sharing, and catalytic seed funding to strengthen sustainable health financing for NCDs.
