Systemic barriers, particularly in low- and middle-income countries, continue to have a significant impact on care access, prevention and treatment. Where someone lives, their job (or lack of), where their local doctor is, their level of health literacy, or even access to public transport, can impact a person’s survival rate, especially when faced with a disease as complex as cancer.

So why does this disparity still exist?
