Access Accelerated Stakeholder Collaboration in Kenya: Day 2 in Review

Our “Building Solutions to Patient Challenges in Non-Communicable Diseases” event concluded after a second day of elevating patient voices to enable them to define their own needs for NCD prevention, treatment and care, while challenging all to avoid quick-fix, standalone solutions. Today focused specifically on how to invest in sustainable long-term solutions and bring sectors together to have a greater collective impact.

More than 275 people attended the convening from civil society, government, industry and patient advocacy groups.

Access Accelerated Stakeholder Collaboration in Kenya: Day 1 in Review

The first day of the Access Accelerated hosted event, “Building Solutions to Patient Challenges in Non-Communicable Diseases” in Nairobi, Kenya featured rich and thoughtful discussion and debate. The event built upon and extended the conversation on non-communicable diseases (NCD) solutions started earlier this week with a Ministry of Health and World Bank Group-hosted event in Naivasha, Kenya. In Naivasha, key stakeholders from government, civil society and the private sector, including participation from Cabinet Secretary (CS) for Health Sicily Kariuki, met to reinvigorate action on NCDs.

Access Accelerated & JPMA Convene Global Health Leaders at 2017 Universal Health Coverage Forum Side Event

On December 12, the Japan Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Association (JPMA) and Access Accelerated hosted a side event at the 2017 Universal Health Coverage Forum in Tokyo. The two-hour event, “Accelerating Sustainable UHC by Improving Access to NCD Care,” explored the power collaboration between the public and private sectors has to accelerate access to NCD care and help achieve Universal Health Coverage.

Access Accelerated Brings Together Leaders to Discuss NCD Solutions During UNGA Week

To a standing-room only audience atop McCann Worldgroup headquarters in New York City, Access Accelerated hosted a special UN General Assembly side event with multisector leaders working to tackle non-communicable diseases around the world. The event began with an interactive marketplace where nine Access Accelerated member companies–Astellas, Bristol-Myers Squibb, Eisai, Merck KGaA, Pfizer, Roche, Sanofi, Shionogi and Daiichi-Sankyo–showcased NCD access programs that address the deadliest NCDs like cancer, diabetes and heart disease.

Access Accelerated at the 72nd Session of the UN General Assembly

During the United Nations General Assembly week, join Access Accelerated for an exclusive, thought-provoking forum addressing the growing burden of non-communicable diseases (NCDs) in Africa, Latin America and Asia. The event will feature an in-depth panel discussion with global leaders from public health, government and the biopharmaceutical industries on how the public and private sectors can come together to develop solutions that drive progress toward meeting the UN Sustainable Development Goal to reduce premature deaths from NCDs by one-third by 2030. 

Guests will also have the opportunity to explore a marketplace of exhibits from current partner initiatives around the world, and meet other leaders in global health during a networking reception.
